The NSE Winter Cup Featuring Fortnite will be held for students attending universities in the United Kingdom, as was announced today by the NSE (National Student Esports) university body for esports competitions.
The NSE will be the host of a two-stage online duos event, which will consist of an online qualifying and finals.
This will be the first time that NSE’s British University Esports Championship (BUEC) will include competition in Fortnite; BUEC is an acronym for the British Universities Esports Championship.

Students will now have the opportunity to earn BUEC points for their university by competing in this Fortnite tournament in addition to competing in other video game tournaments such as League of Legends and CS:GO. This is part of an effort to unseat the University of Warwick as the “Esports University of the Year,” which title is currently held by the University of Warwick.
The top 16 teams in the competition will each share a prize pool of £1,000 if they are able to advance that far. Additionally, the NSE will stream the finals live on their official Twitch account.
The championship match is scheduled to take place on November 1st, 2022, and it will be backed by an online broadcast on Twitch, which is hosted by NSE.
According to NSE, the platform’s more than 30,000 registered users will have more opportunity to participate as a result of the advent of this competition.
NSE business director Sam Hibbert made the following statement:
As part of the British University Esports Championship, “given that Fortnite is one of the most popular games globally, we are particularly happy to offer this chance to Fortnite gamers inside the UK university community,”
Over 2,100 teams from 100 different colleges participated in the competition during the school year 2021/22 and competed in more than ten different esports titles.
The announcement follows the recent formation of a collaboration between NSE and Nintendo over Mario Strikers.

The NSE’s BUEC Winter 2022 season for numerous games is currently accepting sign-ups, and the beginning of the events is scheduled for Sunday, October 16th, 2022.
